As often happens in buildings with a long history, time and the tastes of its various inhabitants have, over time, led to changes in the appearance of the rooms and furnishings of Sarriod de La Tour Castle. This is true for the chapel: around the mid-13th century, Guglielmo Sarriod commissioned the decoration of the wooden ceiling with lively borders and the painting of the walls with scenes from the life of Christ and figures of saints. On both sides of the left-hand monofora window there are double-tailed mermaids and a character named “Grillo”(Cricket). The latter – produced here only in monochrome outline – is a fantastic hybrid figure, consisting of a head to which legs and arms are directly connected. In the 18th century, the refurbishment of the room, with the construction of the vault, led to the destruction of a large part of the pictorial decorations.
