One of the few objects which can still be seen in the castle is a strongbox. Austere and impregnable looking, it is made of wood and iron sheets with large studs, making it extremely sturdy. Every castle and stately home had a box of this type, which would have contained precious objects and important documents. As can be seen on the inside of the lock on the door, it was made by Antonio Piccone in 1839 at the behest of Antoine-Marie-Louis-Hyacinte Sarriod de La Tour. A few years later the blacksmith, or as the documents report, the forgeron et serrurier Antonio and his wife Lucia, bought a forge and a mill. The building still stands today in Aosta, in via Hôtel des Monnaies.
