THE SITE AND THE TOWN

The Megalithic Area of Aosta, covering 10,000 square metres, is the largest covered megalithic area in Europe. A monumental complex which is the fruit of a not inconsiderable challenge: keeping the archaeological evidence in its rightful place and enclosing it to turn it into a futuristic museum-park. Built with playful sharp shapes which look like they want to detach themselves from the surrounding area simply to show the existence of something different and unique, the site invades the present-day town to take visitors on a surprising journey through time to discover the most distant past. Its shiny shapes and reflective windows prove to be fundamental features in the melding of the original relics at the site and its layout, a true “bridge” between sky and Earth.
