During the Middle Ages the area, peripheral and sloping slightly towards the Dora river, was mainly used for farming and no infrastructure worthy of note was built. It was characterised by the little church dedicated to Saint Martin, which appeared during Roman times and was cited in 1176 as the parish church of Sancti Martini de Coriano. Among the objects found during excavations, the numerous and unusual artefacts made of soapstone stand out. These tell us of daily practices relating to the preservation and consumption of food and drink. The section dedicated to the Middle Ages also holds many coins, precious evidence which helps us to reconstruct the long life of this location which, throughout time, has changed in appearance, function and importance.
