The inscription (CIL, V, 6899) located at the centre of the northern façade reads: IMP CÆSARE AUGUSTO XIII COS DESIG C AVILLIUS C F CAIMUS PATAVINUS PRIVATUM (Under Emperor Augustus, when he was appointed for his thirteenth consulship. Caius Avillius Caimus, son of Caius, Paduan. Private work). This important epigraphic evidence allows us to date the monument to exactly 3 BCE, or rather the year Emperor Augustus was appointed consul for the thirteenth time, and to attribute its construction to the Paduan Caius Avillius Caimus. In the surrounding area there are other pieces of epigraphic evidence relating to the presence of liberti (liberated slaves) of the Avilli, not by chance from the zone situated on the orographic right-hand side of the Dora Baltea River, in the next villages along from Aymavilles: Q(uintus) Avillius Q(uinti) l(ibertus) Quartio in Villeneuve and C(aius) Avillius C(ai) l(ibertus) Lucrio in Gressan.
