This magnificent dolmen housed the graves of 39 individuals: mostly male adults, but also women and children, some newborn. The prevalence of males may indicate a deliberate choice.
The practice of burial was prevalent, although there is evidence of cremation in the lowest levels of the tomb. Studying these remains is decidedly complex as they were displaced and mixed up even during ancient times. Worthy of note are 3 craniums displaying evidence of trephination: an intervention practised in prehistoric populations in an attempt to cure both physical and mental illnesses. It involved scraping the skull to gradually erode it using an extremely sharp, pointed instrument. The healing of the bone mass indicates that, of these 3 individuals, 2 survived long after this intervention.
