Towards the end of the 15th century Antoine Sarriod de La Tour put the old chapel at the centre of a refurbishment project, having it decorated with frescoes at the entrance depicting the Crucifixion and Saint Christopher, and adding a little bell tower to the southern side of the castle. The two paintings welcome the visitor with their full colours and richness of detail, such as the fish swimming at the saint’s feet. Unfortunately we do not know the name of the artist, but we can be sure they were influenced by the French-Flemish works which were so in vogue at that time in the Western Alps.
