Created in 1990, the botanical garden of Savoy Castle is situated in a clearing at the foot of the castle walls among firs and larches, with a truly romantic fairytale backdrop. Its setting brings out the aesthetic beauty of the various plant species, both local and from other Italian Alpine regions and other countries, all of unique ornamental value, with luxuriant eye-catching blooms. Having recently undergone important renovation works thanks to the “JardinAlp – Jardins des Alpes” project, financed by the cross-border cooperation programme Interreg V-A Italia – Francia Alcotra 2014/2020, the garden has a new layout full of rocky flower beds and a path accessible to all. The guest of honour is the Reine Marguerite d’Italie, a rose created especially by the Belgian plant nursery Soupert & Notting in 1904: a hybrid of remontant tea rose with large pleasantly scented carmine red flowers.
