THE ART COLLECTION

The regional collection of modern and contemporary art is housed in the castle, with more than 1200 pieces including paintings, sculptures, photographs and graphic design which stretch from Romanticism to the latest avant-garde movements. Over 150 pieces by local figures such as Italo Mus are on display over two floors, as well as some of the most important artists from the last two centuries. We can see, for example, A Castle in the Alps by the English Romantic painter J.M. William Turner, the sculptures of Umberto Mastroianni and Arturo Martini, as well as the paintings of Carlo Carrà and Renato Guttuso. The museum itinerary follows artistic movements in chronological order, finishing up in the rooms focusing on living artists from Aosta Valley, who can express their creativity and feel at home at Gamba castle.
