L’ORBITA (ORBIT) BY MASSIMO UBERTI

In July 2022 Orbita (Orbit) was installed around the top of Gamba Castle in Châtillon. Its artist was Massimo Uberti (Brescia 1966), one of the leading figures of the Light Art scene in Italy. It is a steel ring structure covered by a line of warm-coloured LED lights, a 65-metre ellipse encircling the tower. Orbita shows the connection between the building’s exterior and the works of art it contains, which are its generative core. The work was realised in collaboration with the Casa Testori cultural association of Milan, and also thanks to a contribution from Aosta Valley Autonomous Region, and is one of the winning projects of the PAC2020 Public Notice – Plan for Contemporary Art, promoted by the Directorate General of Contemporary Creativity of the Ministry of Culture.
