inscriptions Introd Castle

Under the courtyard portico, the phrase in patois Meison l’at non torna (The house is called Torna) takes up an old Aosta Valley proverb alluding to the call of a hospitable home.

The double inscription Ospes veniat – Ostis fugiat (May the guest be welcome and the enemy flee) above the entrance door to the baronial hall welcomes visitors and drives away enemies.

Various inscriptions in Latin adorn the octagonal hall: Hic manebimus optime (Here we will be well), Peramanter (With much affection), Corde uno (With one heart) and Paratissima quies (Perfect peace). As a tribute to the owner, the wall of the balcony on the first floor is adorned with initials in Gothic characters.
